SJVN Workmen Trainee Recruitment 2025 – Exam Pattern & Selection Process for Accounts Assistant, Driver & ITI Posts

SJVN Limited, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Power, has released a notification (Advt. No. 124/2025) for 87 vacancies of Workmen Trainees in various disciplines including Accounts Assistant, Assistant, Driver, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Welder, Storekeeper, and Surveyor.

If you are planning to apply, it is very important to understand the selection process and paper pattern. This guide will help you prepare effectively.

📍 Selection Process

The selection process varies slightly depending on the post:

1. For Workmen Trainee (Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Welder, Storekeeper, Surveyor):

Computer-Based Test (CBT) only.
Candidates shortlisted in the ratio of 1:3 for Document Verification.
Final merit list will be based on CBT marks.

2. For Workmen Trainee (Assistant – Accounts, Assistant, Driver):

Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Stage 2: Trade Test (qualifying in nature, no marks added in merit)
Shortlisting for Trade Test & Document Verification in the ratio of 1:3.
Final merit list prepared on the basis of CBT marks (subject to Trade Test qualification).

Mode: Online (CBT)
Total Questions: 100 (MCQs)
Total Marks: 100
Medium: English & Hindi
Marking Scheme: +1 for correct answer, no negative marking

Question Distribution:

Section I: 80 Questions – Relevant Discipline/Subject
Section II: 20 Questions – Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English, and General Awareness

✅ Qualifying Marks

UR/EWS/Others: 50% (50 Marks)
SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD: 40% (40 Marks)

📌 Final Merit List

For technical trades: Based on CBT marks + Document Verification.
For Assistant/Driver/Accounts Assistant: Based on CBT marks + Trade Test qualification.
In case of a tie: Seniority by Date of Birth will be considered.

🏢 Test Centres

CBT will be conducted in Himachal Pradesh at Shimla, Mandi, Bilaspur, Solan, Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Kullu, Chamba (depending on availability).

Q1. What is the exam pattern of SJVN Workmen Trainee recruitment?
The exam will have 100 MCQs (80 technical + 20 aptitude/reasoning/English/GK), 2 hours duration, no negative marking.

Q2. Is there a trade test for all posts?
No. Trade Test is only for Assistant (Accounts), Assistant, and Driver posts. Technical posts like Electrician, Fitter, Welder, etc. will be selected based only on CBT.

Q3. What are the qualifying marks for the CBT?
50% for UR/EWS/Others and 40% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD.

Q4. How is the final merit list prepared?
For technical posts: CBT marks + document verification.
